Painting a Barcelona Flat: What It Costs and How Long It Takes

Most painting quotes differ not because of the paint, but because of how much preparation is included. Here is what actually goes into repainting a flat in Barcelona.

Freshly painted white wall in a Barcelona apartment

Typical timings

A single bedroom of around 12 m², walls and ceiling, takes one working day including filling and two coats. A full two-bedroom flat is usually three to four days.

  • One bedroom, walls and ceiling: 1 day
  • Living room with high ceilings: 1.5–2 days
  • Whole two-bedroom flat: 3–4 days

Prep is most of the work

Filling cracks, sanding back old gloss, masking skirting and sealing damp patches takes longer than rolling the paint on. A quote that skips this is cheaper for a reason — you will see every old crack through the new coat within a month.

Questions worth asking

Before accepting any quote, check these points in writing.

  • How many coats, and is primer included?
  • Is filling and sanding part of the price?
  • Who supplies and pays for the paint?
  • Is furniture moving and protection included?
